Tonight is the night for Julianne Moore. I would like to see her win the Best Actress Oscar for her portrayal of an outstanding woman who is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in her early 50′s. The basis of the movie is how it effects her family, as well as herself. This CNN article says it all regarding how pertinent this disease really strikes at the core of so many families. Hopefully the mainstream visibility of movies like this will bring comfort and also resources to families in need of help dealing with the same concerns.
Update: I saw this movie 3 days following the 2015 Oscar’s. Ms. Moore had me in tears several times during the movie showcasing the slow-burining realness that is this disease. The confusion and frustration of her family, but also unconditional love was extremely realistic in nature. The ending was subtle, but brought the message home. Life is so fragile, and living in the present is so important. Support your local Alzheimer’s Association. I am.
